Homes with Registrar Enforcement Orders

A Registrar Enforcement Order means concerns were identified by RHRA but does not mean these concerns have not been resolved by the home. It’s important to speak with the home directly or call RHRA for more information.

The plain language descriptions of Registrar Enforcement Orders are intended to be helpful and informative.  They are not intended to replace the official language in the Retirement Homes Act.

Compliance Orders: An order requiring a licensee to stop or start doing something so that they can comply with the Retirement Homes Act and Regulation. The goal is to prevent the issue from happening again.

Administrative Penalties:  A penalty a licensee must pay to encourage them to comply with the Retirement Homes Act and Regulation. The amount is determined based on how severe the issue is, the impact on residents, what action the licensee took to try and fix the problem.

Management Order: An order requiring a licensee to hire one or more managers to help run some or all of the operations in the home. These orders are issued when a licensee is not complying or needs external help to properly manage the home.

Order Revoking a Licence: An order revoking a home’s licence because the licensee is not complying with the Retirement Homes Act. This happens when they are no longer meeting the requirements to operate a retirement home. This may include failing to act with honesty and integrity or operating the home in a manner that is harmful to the health, safety or wellbeing of residents. The order may require the licensee to take steps to ensure the care and safety of residents while the home prepares to stop operating.
