Public Consultation on the Annual Information Return (AIR) for Fiscal Year 2025/26

The Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) is inviting feedback from stakeholders on the proposed Fiscal Year 2025/2026 Annual Information Return (AIR) questions. Residents, licensees, operators, seniors’ organizations, and other interested parties are encouraged to participate.
Last year, the RHRA introduced a new approach to collect information all retirement homes at the start of the fiscal year. AIR enhances the regulator’s understanding of the sector, supports regulatory activities, and helps to reduce the administrative burden on retirement homes. Last fiscal year, the RHRA’s first AIR process received an overall response rate of 99%.
The RHRA is now seeking feedback on the eight questions that retirement homes will complete as part of their AIR submission, due April 1, 2025. Six of the questions are new while two are the same as the previous year.
Please refer to the Annual Information Return Consultation Package to review the proposed questions and rationale. These questions will provide information to assist with developing the right touch regulatory model and will focus on dementia care and independent residents.
Please submit any comments in writing by email to consultations@rhra.ca no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on September 16, 2024. Please include “AIR Consultation Submission” in the subject line of your email. Attachments are welcome.
RHRA will post a summary of the feedback in late 2024. Findings from the previous year’s process can be found here.
The RHRA will also continue to use feedback to make phased in improvements to the process and thanks stakeholders and licensees for their continued support and contributions.
