RHRA Election of New Directors
The Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) Board of Directors is very pleased to announce the election of four new Directors. This includes Anil Mathur, a thought leader with deep expertise in governance, audit and risk management, Janet Beed, an independent practitioner who has held diverse leadership roles in the health care system, Barbara Kieley, a respected advisor with experience in digital innovation and business transformation, and Christine Ozimek, an executive and former CEO of a group of retirement homes and long-term care homes.
“We are delighted to have Anil, Janet, Barbara and Christine join our Board,” said Trevor Lee, RHRA’s Interim Board Chair. “They will bring diverse insights and valuable knowledge to RHRA, which are critical at this time of transformation. We welcome Anil, whose term began on June 29, 2021, and the other three Directors, who will begin their terms on December 10, 2021.”
Jay O’Neill, RHRA CEO and Registrar added, “The years of collective expertise in governance and implementing strategic change that are represented by our new Directors are certain to benefit the Board. I look forward to working with them as we adapt to a changing environment, while continuing to protect seniors in retirement homes.”
The Board of Directors provides oversight of the RHRA, steering the organization as it fulfills its mandate to ensure the safety and well-being of residents living in Ontario’s licensed retirement homes. The Board consists of nine Directors, with four appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council and five elected through a Board nomination process. The Minister for Seniors and Accessibility designates a Chair of the Board from among the Directors.
