A condition is an action that the home has to take to be in good standing. Review this to see if they raise any questions for you as you consider the home.
Condition 1: The Licensee must employ or retain, at its own expense, a person(s), acceptable to the RHRA, to educate the Licensee on the requirements of the Retirement Homes Act, 2010 and its Regulation (“the Act”, and “Regulation”) and to supervise the Licensee’s operation of the Home and compliance with the Act and Regulation (“the Supervisor(s)”). The Licensee must ensure that the Supervisor(s) is provided with sufficient financial and other resources to appropriately supervise the Licensee’s operation of the Home. The Supervisor(s) must meet the following criteria:i. Experience managing the provision of care services in a congregate care or health care setting;
ii. Operational management experience to supervise operations and management of the Home; and
iii. Capable of and empowered to supervise compliance with policies and procedures that will maintain a safe environment for residents.
Condition 2: The Licensee must immediately advise the RHRA of any change in the contractual status with the Licensee of the Supervisor(s).
Condition 3: The Supervisor(s) must be on site at the home at such times and frequencies as the Supervisor(s) deems reasonably necessary and must be available to spend time working remotely as the Supervisor(s) deems reasonably necessary, to appropriately supervise operations and management of the Home.
Condition 4: The Licensee must defer to the guidance and direction of the Supervisor(s).
Condition 5: The Licensee must ensure that the Supervisor(s) report to the RHRA monthly, or as otherwise requested by the RHRA, on the status of the Home, the implementation of the Conditions, and any concerns the Supervisor(s) has regarding the Licensee’s compliance with the Act.
