Results are in: RHRA’s 2024 Stakeholder Effectiveness Survey

The RHRA extends its sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the 2024 Stakeholder Effectiveness Survey conducted last fall. Our stakeholders’ feedback plays a vital role in helping us fulfill our mandate to protect residents of Ontario’s retirement homes.
This survey is a key part of our ongoing commitment to accountability and transparency. By sharing their perspectives, our stakeholders helped us better understand how we are performing and where we can improve. Their insights will directly inform our efforts to strengthen oversight and communication, support compliance, and enhance the retirement home sector.
Key insights:
- Improved stakeholder perceptions: The RHRA’s Accountability Index Score increased from 7.8 out of 10 in 2021 to 8.1 in 2024. This reflects growing confidence in the RHRA’s leadership, fairness, transparency and support among licensees and operators.
- Strong support for oversight: A large majority of stakeholders emphasized the importance of having an organization that ensures retirement homes follow the rules and provides clear, factual information to residents and their families.
- Opportunities to strengthen communication: While perceptions of the RHRA’s transparency and responsiveness have improved, there is still room to enhance how we communicate information and support compliance across the sector.
