Technical Advisory Committee: The RHRA was pleased to be an active member of the Government of Ontario's Technical Advisory Committee on Vulnerable Occupancies. The Committee's report and recommendations were released by government in January 2013 for public consultation until February 28, 2013. Members of the public can access materials here. The RHRA supports and encourages the government to proceed with implementation of the recommendations, which would respond to Coroner's Jury recommendations and enhance fire safety for residents in retirement homes.

PHIPA: On January 1, 2013 the government proclaimed a subsection under the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 which added retirement homes, as defined by the Retirement Homes Act, 2010, to the list of health information custodians. RHRA Board of Directors: The RHRA Board of Directors has transitioned to a permanent board comprised of nine members, four appointed by the Minister Responsible for Seniors through the public appointments process and five elected by the interim Board of Directors.

First Licence Issued: The RHRA issued Ontario's first retirement home licence on June 28, 2012 to Fox Run on the River, located in Gananoque. Read local press coverage here.
